Actuator Location Optimization
for Large Degree-of-Freedom Fields

Moonshot Goal 8
By 2050, control typhoons and heavy rainfall to realize a safe and secure society which is free from the threat of extreme storm and flood disasters.

As global warming progresses, storm and flood disasters caused by typhoons and torrential rains are becoming more serious. If we can change the intensity, timing, and range of these phenomena, we may be able to avoid direct damages or greatly reduce them. The goal of this project is to develop a method for optimizing control input locations (actuator locations) for large degree-of-freedom fields to improve the efficiency of weather control, and to demonstrate numerically the effectiveness of the method.
